Wider Church Ministries is one of four Covenanted Ministries in the United Church of Christ. We support congregations and the other settings of the church in developing relationships with a wider church that is global, multiracial and multicultural. open and affirming, and accessible to all. Our Executive Minister is The Rev. Cally Rogers-Witte.
Wider Church Ministries is in partnership with the Division of Overseas Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Common Global Ministries—the worldwide mission program of both denominations. Some Wider Church Ministry programs are unique to the United Church of Christ, others are shared with the Disciples of Christ.
The Rev. Cally Rogers-Witte is Executive Minister of Wider Church Ministries (WCM), one of four Covenanted Ministries in the United Church of Christ, and serves as co-executive of the UCC/Disciples Global Ministries. She is also a member of the United Church of Christ's five-person Collegium of Officers.
Cally has a diverse background and a commitment to international, cross-cultural, and ecumenical issues dating back to her ordination in 1973. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Church World Service and was a member of the National Council of Churches' Governing Board in the 1980's. She has served as President of both the North Carolina and New Mexico statewide councils of churches and in the board of the Arizona Ecumenical Council. She attended three international assemblies of the World Council of Churches, in Australia, Zimbabwe, and Brazil. Early in her career, she served as Director of Christian Education at the American Church in Paris, France. In 2000, she spent time during her sabbatical studying Spanish and living with families in Guadalajara and Morelia, Mexico.
Prior to coming to her current position with WCM, Cally served for ten years as Conference Minister of the UCC Southwest Conference and before that was pastor of Community United Church of Christ in Raleigh, N.C. for eighteen years.
Cally is a graduate of UCC-related Pacific School of Religion (M. Div.), Yale Divinity School (M.A. in Religion) and Mary Baldwin College in Virginia. Her husband Frank Rogers-Witte is a Clinical Psychologist currently working with Hewlett-Packard. They have two adult daughters, Mary Ann and Beth.
