Alexis De Tocqueville famously observed “America is great because it is good. If America ceases to be good , it will no longer be great” As a nation, we have not been good for a long time. The ceaseless assault upon individual liberties by our own government, disrespect for life and general disdain for basic freedoms tears at our soul. I prayerfully ask our Lord to help us come out from our present darkness into the light. May the election before us reaffirm the fundamental truth that our dignity as fellow human beings is bestowed upon us by the almighty. So be it and may it be so.
