Where do your donations to UCC Disaster Ministries go? Funds released in June, July and August included:

$55,000 more for Puerto Rico recovery following Hurricane Maria, bringing its total to more than $267,000, not counting in-kind and volunteer labor. Work teams have restored 35 houses since June!　 Includes $5,000 to help ship medical equipment to Puerto Rico for Ryder Memorial Hospital.
$50,000 more to Volusia Interfaiths/Agencies Networking in Disaster (VIND) for the continued employment of a construction supervisor for long-term recovery from Hurricanes Matthew and Irma.
$40,000 to assist 910 Kenyan households (7,300 people) displaced by spring floods.
$30,000 more for Hurricane Irma and Maria recovery in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, bringing UCC Disaster Ministries’ cash contribution to this ecumenical recovery effort to $175,000.
$60,435 more for Hurricane Harvey recovery in Port Arthur, Texas, about half of that for the salary of the coordinator of UCC Disaster Ministries’ Hurricane Harvey Recovery program.
$5,500 to assist households affected by the eruption of the Fuego volcano in Guatemala.　
$5,000 for Hurricane Irma long-term recovery in Palm Beach, Fla.
$3,000 toward flood relief for eight families who suffered significant damages and losses from flooding in April in Kauai, Hawai’i.
$3,000 for the United Church of Christ in Japan as it responds to severe flooding and other damage from Typhoon Maria in July, and subsequent heat and dust.
$5,000 for Indonesia following the July earthquake that killed at least 14, injured at least 160 and damaged about 1,000 homes.
$5,000 for the Church of South India following floods in August, due to incessant rain, which have taken a heavy toll of life and property. At least 324 died and 220,000 were displaced. The funds will be used to provide relief assistance to 3,800 affected households.
$3,000 to IMA World Health for its work in the Democratic Republic of Congo to help contain this summer’s new Ebola outbreak in North Kivu Province. Funds will be used for personal protective equipment and training for local staff to help stop the disease’s spread.
$1,500 for the Northern California Nevada Conference for a community meal for victims of this summer’s Carr Fire in Northern California.
