Living Psalm 23 – Easter 4B
Living Psalms Book
Psalms in the form of words and art, reborn in the specific contexts of our world,
privileging the voices of historically marginalized communities and those acting in solidarity with them.
Living Psalm 23 for May, Mental Health Awareness Month
(As we anticipate Mental Health Awareness Month which begins Saturday, May 1, may we hear the healing of these familiar words)
You are my healer.
In you I find everything…
You sit with me on sofas as I cry with a counselor.
You lead me to friendships still and steadfast.
These connections restore my mind and soul.
You calm my spirit as it panics on paths of all sorts.
And when I find my mind in the shadows of life, I will expect your light.
For you are with me.
Medications and therapy are your tools for me.
You prepare a meditation for me in the presence of my fears.
And someday soon, my soul will once again overflow with joy.
Surely, you will accompany me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell with your Spirit – your deepest breath – forever.
Living Psalm 23, for May, Mental Health Awareness Month, was written by the Rev. Michelle Torigian.
Living Psalms Book is created by UCC Witness & Worship Artists’ Group, a Network of UCC connected artists, activists and ministers bridging the worship and liturgy of the local church with witness and action in the community.
