Living Psalm 93–Ascension Day B
Living Psalms Book
Psalms in the form of words and art, reborn in the specific contexts of our world, privileging the voices of historically marginalized communities and those acting in solidarity with them.
Living Psalm 93 for Ascension Day B
What is the home of God
Like
Being enrobed in delight
A strong
compass
in all things
Made
Loved
Sustained
Everlasting embrace
God’s throne
Where she sits
Could be
A bus stop, vaccine line, pantry
Maybe tucked underneath the
Freeway overpass with those
Huddled without shelter
Maybe a border
Maybe a detention center
Maybe solitary in a pandemic
Maybe the bathroom, door closed
The only moment of quiet she’ll get that day
Maybe a graveside
Maybe a church in the country
Where just two, or three, or fifteen
gather
God’s throne – is wherever love persists.
Where love tries
Over and over
In spite
Of (insert despair here)
It shall never be moved
Majestic is the courage
Of the lonely and wanting
Majestic is the
Holding each other close
When we are ready to give up
Majestic is the weeping
When it’d be easy to numb
Majestic is the joy
In small bursts of grace
Majestic is
Holding the im/possible at the same time
Together
What is the home of God like?
(delight, guiding, embrace, love, sustained
despite.)
Where is the throne?
(where is it not?)
Help us to see
You
Everlasting
Clap your hands
People
Of God
She is here
