Living Psalm 130—Pentecost 5B
From the pit of my gut I scream at you, God.
Do you even hear my voice? Are my screams in vain? Does the vibration of my vocal cords mean nothing to you?
Do you hear me?
I wait for you. I wait more. In my waiting, I shed many tears.
And then…in my patience, I find your hope.
I know I’ve taken wrong roads and unhealthy paths. But who hasn’t? I’m not perfect, nor are any of your children.
But your expectations are softened by your beaming grace. Your mercy lights the way so that all may celebrate you.
O friends and foes: our hope is in our God.
O Northern Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere: our hope is in our God.
O children of all faiths: our hope is in our God.
For in our God there is steadfast love that will never let us down.
For in the Holy One there is power to redeem us-
to love us when we are stuck in valleys,
to assist us as we reach for new heights.
Our Holy One will turn around our minds and heal our hearts this day and forevermore.
