Rev. Joan Bell-Haynes (DOC- Appointed Class of 2025) is the Executive Regional Minister, Central Rocky Mountain Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ/DOC) in the United States and Canada. She is an alumna of the Disciples Divinity House/University of Chicago Divinity School. She holds a BA in Psychology and served most of her career as Assistant Dean of Academics, College of Health Sciences at Georgia State University in Atlanta, GA before discerning her call to ordained ministry. A native of Macon, Georgia, Rev. Bell-Haynes has served the Christian Church (Disciples Of Christ) as a servant-leader for more than 30 years as: elder, teacher, workshop leader, pastor, regional staff, first vice-moderator of the General Assembly (2013-15) and board member. She is a founding member of Ray of Hope Christian Church, Atlanta, Georgia, where Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Hale continues to lead as its founding pastor.
Rev. Bell-Haynes currently serves on the Pro-Reconciliation/Anti-Racism Team for the College of Regional Ministers and holds membership on the boards of: Lexington Theological Seminary, Disciples Divinity House Chicago, and Disciples Church Extension Fund. She received the 2017 Christian Church (DOC) Capital Area (DMV) Region Bridge Builder Award. She served as project manager for Spirit House, Washington, DC with Veteran Civil Rights leader Rev. Ruby Sales, Founder and Executive Director in where she learned the value of passing on our history to our children. Her spirit is nourished and renewed by her family, enjoying the arts of music, dance, theater, travel, art galleries and wineries.
