Harm Reduction Justice Sunday

Thank you for making time for mental health in your community! Harm Reduction Justice Sunday was established as part of the Faithful Advocacy for Intersectional and Transformational Healing in Harm Reduction resolution approved by the delegates at a plenary of the Thirty-Fourth General Synod of the UCC.

Prepare for Harm Reduction Justice Sunday

This year’s Harm Reduction Justice Sunday will be held officially on the third Sunday in August (August 18th, 2024), but can be held at any time throughout the year.

To help prepare for your worship service, a toolkit is available featuring 1 Kings 2:10-12, 3:3-14, and John 6:51-58.

This toolkit is a collaboration between Harm Reduction and Overdose Prevention Ministries and Faith in Harm Reduction.

You can also order banners and yard signs reading “People Who Use Drugs Are Beloved by God” in white lettering on a multicolored background. Let your community know that you are committed to the work of harm reduction, overdose prevention, building solidarity with people who use drugs, and resisting stigma related to substance use.

Nurture the Soul: Harm Reduction & Overdose Prevention in the Pulpit

In preparation for this year’s Harm Reduction Justice Sunday (HRJS) on August 18th we will, review Nurture the Soul’s webinar where the hosts explore the UCC’s HRJS Toolkit, answer questions about the Harm Reduction and Overdose Prevention Ministries, and listen and center the voices and leadership of people with lived and living experience of substance use in our churches throughout the year.
