Psalm of Trust and Security in God
Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia A. Thompson
Protect us O God, for it is in you we take refuge. It is you we trust all our days. You are our God; we have no good apart from you.
The borders and boundaries we have set between us threatens to overtake us. Walls have turned to mountains of fear. Borders widen like chasms, preventing us from knowing one another. Differences are weapons used to hurt and harm those we should call siblings and neighbors.
Protect us O God, for it is in you we take refuge. It is you we trust all our days. You are our God; we have no good apart from you.
Those who know you by many names, we are precious and holy to you. You delight in who we are. Our rituals are sacred, our sacrifices are holy, our knowledge of you is passed from generation to generation. Our Ancestors knew and trusted in you.
Protect us O God, for it is in you we take refuge. It is you we trust all our days. You are our God we have no good apart from you.
You delight in the people of the land and the sea. Their indigeneity is a gift to the whole earth, their wisdom reflects your beauty and your deep mystery. The rising waters threaten to swallow the land, pushing people away from the homes they love.
Protect us O God, for it is in you we take refuge. It is you we trust all our days. You are our God we have no good apart from you.
You keep us through the night and through sorrow. You hold us safely through harm and dangers we do not see. You show us the path of life. In your presence we find fulness and joy.
Protect us O God, for it is in you we take refuge. It is you we trust all our days. You are our God; we have no good apart from you.
