Getting to Know Andrew Wells-Bean

Andrew Wells-Bean is the United Church of Christ’s Environmental Justice Fellow. Andy brings to this work a combination of substantial environmental organizing experience and a history of working in faith settings. He worked to build winning campaigns across the country with organizations such as the Sierra Club, Public Interest Network, Citizens Campaign for the Environment, and Organizing for America. He also recently served as Membership Director with Follen Community Church (UU) in Lexington, MA. Building community, including recruiting and supporting volunteer leaders, has been a cornerstone of his work. He believes in the power of the local church as a force in the fight against climate change.
The UCC’s Environmental Justice Fellowship enables Andy to devote himself full-time to the work of developing and implementing a national program that encourages, supports, and equips local church members in taking public actions in their congressional districts with the ultimate aim of passing climate legislation.
