Getting to Know Sue Mueller, Lead Climate Hope Campaign Organizer
Sue Mueller is an accomplished leader and advocate with a passion for driving positive change in the world through the lens of activism inspired by the teachings of Jesus. Sue holds two degrees from Cleveland State University, in History and Comparative Religion, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2023. Her degrees bring a deep understanding of the cultural, historical, and religious contexts that shape our world. Currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Theology at Xavier University, with a discipline in Ethics, Spirituality, and Professional Practice, Sue has committed herself to exploring the intersections of faith, ethics, and action.
Grounded in the belief in God’s plan for humanity to care for the world, Sue’s advocacy is rooted in creation care, aligning with the biblical call to stewardship. Inspired by passages such as Jeremiah 29:11, which declares, “For surely I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope,” Sue is driven by a vision of a just and sustainable future.
Drawing further inspiration from Job 12:7-10, which implores us to learn from the wisdom of nature, Sue recognizes the interconnectedness of all living beings. She seeks to amplify their voices in the fight against climate change. “Ask the animals, and they will teach you; the birds of the air, and they will tell you; ask the plants of the earth and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you,” Job reminds us.
As the Lead Climate Hope Campaign Organizer for the national office of the United Church of Christ (UCC), Sue will channel her expertise and dedication into mobilizing communities to address the urgent climate crisis. With a background rooted in academia and activism, Sue is adept at bridging the gap between theory and practice, inspiring others to engage meaningfully with environmental issues.
