United Church of Christ Professional Chaplains and Counselors (UCC-PCC)
Help us celebrate SPIRITUAL CARE WEEK: October 20-26, 2024, by joining us for a Celebration on Monday, October 21, 2024 from 5pm-6:30pm ET. Register here.
Join the leaders of the United Church of Christ Professional Chaplains and Counselors on Monday, October 21 from 5pm-6:30pm ET (registration link here) for a zoom meeting to celebrate the various roles of ministers who serve in specialized settings. We will gather as ministers who serve in specialized settings across the denomination and discuss the relaunch our group (the UCC-PCC) to be more expansive in its inclusion of the myriad of settings in which ministers in the United Church of Christ serve. Part celebration – part information sharing – part relationship building. Let’s come together and forge new future collaborations for UCC ministers.
This image represents an understanding that our ministers are serving in an ever widening scope of settings within our communities – healthcare, military, education, counseling, workplace and more are being imagined each day. We strive to connect, support and resource ministers in these callings. The mission of this group is to provide a means of:
- Connection to enhance the relationship among chaplains and counselors
- Foundation to sharpen our identity within the UCC
- Education and professional growth
- Communication to increase dialogue with peers, agencies, denominational instrumentalities, and cognate groups regarding chaplaincy and counseling among the members and with the UCC national setting.
All authorized ministers in the United Church of Christ are guided in their work by The Marks for Faithful and Effective Authorized Ministers. Ministers who are Endorsed for specific ministries often are bound in that work by Standards of Practice and Codes of Ethics published by the professional organizations with which they are affiliated. You may find the most common Standards of Practice for organizations we most regularly partner with below:
- Standards of Practice for the Association of Professional Chaplains (2014)
- Code of Professional Ethics for the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (2020)
- Code of Ethics for the Spiritual Care Association
- Standards and Ethics can be found in the Student Handbook for the Institute for Clinical Pastoral Training (2023)
- Code of Ethics for the American Correctional Chaplains Association (1992)
- Manual of Standards for The American Correctional Association (2016)
- Qualifications and Qualities of Law Enforcement Chaplains for the International Conference of Police Chaplains (2017)
- Code of Ethics for the National Institute of Business and Industrial Chaplains (2023)
