DOOR provides opportunities for service, learning and leadership development within the urban context. Collaboration, mutuality and partnership are emphasized.
Project/Focus: Groups experience the city and learn about it through volunteering at a variety of community agencies already present in the community, including soup kitchens and homeless shelters. Groups stay at facilities in the city, hear a local perspective on the city, use public transportation when available, interact with people of the city and reflect on their experiences.
Educational/Advocacy Components: The program is designed to expose people to the city in a direct way. Evening speakers, group reflection, worship and Bible study challenge people to consider biblical responses to the issues of poverty, racism, and injustice facing the city as they daily live out their authentic Christian faith. Our local city directors have created curricula based on the needs and issues facing their local communities. This educational component is relevant, trans formative and creative and speaks to the needs of those living in our DOOR Cities around the world. This summer out city directors will address systemic structural barriers affecting the marginalized (Atlanta), the effects of homelessness (Los Angeles), racial injustice (Chicago), the journey of the immigrant (Miami), and economic inequality (Denver) .
Door locations nationwide: California (Los Angeles), Colorado (Denver); Georgia (Atlanta); Illinois (Chicago), and Florida (Miami)
Time: Week long available all year. Weekends available in fall, winter, and spring.
Registration deadlines: 10 weeks before trip. If you are interested in coming after the deadline, please call the national office for availability.
Group Size: Groups or combinations of groups totaling 60 participants (summer) and 45 participants (spring/winter/fall).
Minimum Age: 13 – Some sites can accommodate younger participants. Contact national office for information.
Adult to Youth Ratio: 1:5 for high school aged youth; 1:4 for middle school aged youth
Accommodations: Housing is arranged at local churches, either on the floor at the church or on cots. Participants bring their own sleeping bag and pillow. Showers are provided. Visit the Discover section on each city’s page for specific information.

Cost: Week long: $325 per participant. Sunday evening through Friday noon. Covers lodging, all meals from Monday morning to Friday evening except Wednesday evening and scheduling logistics. Weekend $130 per participant.

The Fuller Center for Housing faith-driven and Christ-centered, promotes collaborative and innovative partnerships with individuals and organizations in an unrelenting quest to provide adequate shelter for all people in need worldwide.
Projects/Focus: Building new and repairing existing homes working with families in need. The exact projects will be determined close to group arrival and based upon the progress of previous accomplishments of our volunteers and available resources.
Educational/Advocacy Components: Each group will receive an orientation about the community they will be serving. This will include a discussion about poverty housing in the area, and the economic benefit of our “hand up-not a handout” approach and how this builds a Fund for Humanity recycling homeowner payments to serve other people in need in the community. Churches do mission work by empowering the people they serve.
Time: Any time of the year.
Group Size: 2-20
Minimum Age: 14+ years. Younger accepted with parent supervision.
Accommodations: Local Churches – details vary from church to church. Teams will prepare their own meals.

The Koinonia mission: We are Christians called to live together in intentional community sharing a life of prayer, work, study, service and fellowship. We seek to embody peacemaking, sustainability, and radical sharing. While honoring people of all backgrounds and faiths, we strive to demonstrate the way of Jesus as an alternative to materialism, militarism and racism.
Project/Focus: Projects may include gardening, tending pecan and fruit orchards, grounds maintenance, bakery, kitchen, and cleaning and maintenance of buildings.
Educational/Advocacy Components: Groups join the activities of members of this intentional community. Days consist of prayer, work, study and service. There is a museum of Koinonia history and local African-American history on-site, as well as a small gift store. Tours of the farm and grounds are available. Koinonia is the birthplace of Habitat for Humanity and other social justice organizations.
Time: Any time of year. The earlier the group contacts the Coordinator, the greater chance there will be housing available for the group.
Group Size: Up to 20 in Guest House, occasionally more if other visitor housing is vacant – please contact Coordinator to confirm.
Adult to Youth Ratio: 1:4 for primary; 1:8 or fewer for secondary.
Accommodations: Guest house has living space, bedrooms, shared bathroom and shared kitchenette. The guest house and dining room have been completely renovated. Linens provided. Camping is possible. 8 RV hookups and several smaller guest lodgings are available for small groups or families. Weekday noon meals and dinner on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are shared with community, other meals on your own.

The Craddock Center is a nonprofit located in the North Georgia mountains with two full-time employees, one part-time administrative assistant, a remote part-time accountant, and four part-time arts specialists.
Projects/Focus: “Delivery” is key to our mission and Camp Craddock is our summer-time delivery of “happy & hope”. The
goal of Camp Craddock is to reduce or eliminate the summer learning gap. This mobile camp is delivered to children in their own backyards through the work of mission groups and summer volunteer staff. More than 400 children participated in Camp Craddock in summer 2017. Participating children receive breakfast and lunch. The week-long camp curriculum consists of songs and stories, arts and crafts, physical movement, and free books each day.
Educational/Advocacy Components: The Caddock Center staff and volunteers offer additional programming and guided reflection on approximately 3 of the 5 weekdays a group is on site; group leaders are asked to be responsible for worship components. The Craddock Center enjoys a strong relationship with all area churches. There are many formal worship opportunities in the area.
Work Needed: Mission groups with a passion for children and a desire to “get their hands dirty”are welcome and needed! Each day, the mission group travels to a nearby neighborhood to lead children in songs, read stories, guide games/physical movement, direct craft activities, and lend books from the Story Express (our customized van full of bookshelves and books). Mission teams also serve breakfast and lunch. Though mission groups may propose their own activities and interject their own creativity, a full camp curriculum is available. Once done with a day’s activities, the team heads back to home base at the Craddock Center where activities might include assembly of weekend snack packs for the week, preparation of next day’s craft project, song & story practice, or other activities to help out around the Center.
Time: (specific dates; application deadlines; time of year) – Contact with The Craddock Center can be initiated now in order to choose a desirable week. The Center is able to accommodate one mission group each of the seven weeks of the local summer, which begins around June 1st and typically excludes the July 4th holiday week.
Group Size: 10 to 15 is ideal, though a smaller or larger group can possibly be accommodated.
Minimum Age: 10
Adult to Youth Ratio: 1 adults per 3 youth
Accommodations: Dormitory-style room and board is available at the Center, with a full kitchen, triple toilet/sink men’s and
women’s restrooms, showers, flexible partitions for sleeping quarters with cots. Because of our mountain location, groups or
some group members might also choose to rent more standard housing, and the Center can refer groups to cabin rental
agencies.
Cost: To cover costs of staying at the Center, groups are asked to make a minimum donation of $100 per person for the week. Of course, we hope that you will LOVE serving children through Camp Craddock and will support it in a way that is meaningful to your group! Meals and transportation are provided by your group.
