Living Psalm 105:1-11, 45B Pentecost 9A
Psalms in the form of words and art, reborn in the specific contexts of our world, privileging the voices of historically marginalized communities and those acting in solidarity with them.
Whisper, whisper, whisper
“thank you, God, that you show yourself
in all the world –
among people of all faiths,
among people of no faith!”
Sing, sing, sing –
words with rhythm, with bells,
with dancing feet, every language,
Braille, Sign, sculpture, sandbox
the stories
of all God has done
and invites us to do as well!
Give yourself a bath in glory,
then shake like a dog
to sparkle on the hearts of others!
And play hide and seek with God –
where you never stop seeking,
and God is not really hiding!
Seek God’s strength always,
and you will find it;
seek God’s presence in tree and moss,
in the miracle that is platypus and koala,
red giant and aurora borealis,
breeze and strong wind,
and God’s presence will find you.
And remember to tell your holy stories
as well as the ones in sacred books!
Children of the earth, name yourselves – chosen!
Judge with truth and mercy,
and resist fiercely those who judge with hate,
and claim it is in the name of God!
For God remembers us, each of us,
all the places of the earth,
even all light years of traveling hope
in a covenant so faithful, so old, so deep,
that praise must be a whisper,
but also a song, a bath, a game,
a memory so open,
somehow we even remember how holy
tomorrow is going to be!
Praise God!
