Living Psalm 130
Living Psalm 130
Open & Affirming Sunday
Out of my fatigue I rant to you, O Divine.
Hear me!
Don’t let other prayers drown out
my need for you to acknowledge this.
You’ve seen how far I’ve come—
I’ve learned to love my gay and lesbian siblings,
and I no longer view bisexuality as a confusion.
It is you who helped me grow so much,
so far from where I was.
And still you challenge me, Holy One!
Can’t the transformations I’ve already undergone
be enough; can’t I rest in what I’ve learned to this point?
I just want peace and to feel it’s enough.
I just want peace and to feel I’m enough.
O Church, God is our encourager!
For They help us embrace what is new to us;
They encourage us in our continued learning:
of pronouns and genders and the love these words reveal.
It is the Divine who will chart new neural pathways
in our long-grooved brains.
