Living Psalm 148–Christmas 1 C
Living Psalms Book
Psalms in the form of words and art, reborn in the specific contexts of our world, privileging the voices of historically marginalized communities and those acting in solidarity with them.
Living Psalm 148—Christmas 1 C
Our Christmas scriptures according to Luke ends with the shepherds “glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen.” And who can forget the glorious sounds of the angels praising and glorifying God in heavenly song.
Today on the first Sunday after Christmas we join our voices with the angels and the shepherds and the many through the ages and around the world today to praise the Holy One, known to us by many names, for the gift given us on Christmas day.
Please stand and let us together praise God by proclaiming:
Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens! Praise the Lord from the heights!
Praise YHWH, all the angels;
praise YHWH, all heavenly host!
Praise Elohim, sun and moon;
praise Elohim, all you shining stars!
Praise Adonai, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens!
Let them praise the name of El Shaddai,
who has commanded and they were created.
Wisdom established them forever and ever;
and fixed their bounds, which cannot be passed.
Praise Kyrios from the earth, you sea monsters and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and frost, stormy wind fulfilling holy command!
Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars!
Wild animals and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds!
Rulers of the earth and all peoples,
monarchs and all rulers of earth!
Young men and women alike, old and young together!
Let them praise the name of the Host of Heaven,
whose name alone is exalted;
whose glory is above earth and heaven.
The Word has raised up a horn for the people,
praise for all the faithful,
for the people of Israel who are close to the Holy One.
Praise Creator, Lord and Lover of all creation!
AMEN!!!!!!
