In Expectation

We will sing of your steadfast love forever,
declaring your love for justice
as we wait with expectation to experience the Holy.

We will sing the manifestation of your love,
given to us in the birth of the baby
a child born to lead with justice.

This child is a vision of who we are
a child of migrant parents, born into poverty
revealed during a time of occupation and oppression.

This child with the animals in the manger
a reminder of rural communities
this stable a solution – providing temporary housing.

This child is your love made present among us
a sign of your love established to feed the hungry
for generations past and for generations to come.

We will sing as we await the appearance of your justice
your love made visible among us
is a sign of hope.

We will sing with great expectation and longing
you made a covenant with your people
you chose us when you formed us in your image.

You determined your love will remain with us forever
your arm strengthens us as we wait for freedom
you give us courage to confront the wicked and those who hate.
