Living Psalm 119: 33-40—Pentecost 14 A
(Prayer of one who never made it to the beach, this Covid-19 Summer)
O Holy One, I plunge into your Law
as into the ocean on a late summer’s day;
your currents lap and my muscles relax;
your waters soak through me, my soul is refreshed.
I let go of the sea floor and float weightless in grace;
I ride waves of your vision,
and land on a new shore.
O Holy One, plunge me deep into your Law
as into your dream of goodness;
Immerse me in that vision of abundant life.
Soak my heart and fill it in love;
Drown my eyes in sorrow then clear them for justice;
Tune my ears to winds carrying cries of suffering
and let my voice respond in truth;
Help me let go my fear and trust your buoyant grace;
Send me where you need me to be,
to labor with you to make all things new.
